A lot of movement is eliminated by doing this, but the fore-end is not as stiff as a laminate, wood or chassis could be.

The stock is not rigid after this process.

I ended up replacing the factory stock with a laminate.

As a hunting rifle, accuracy off a bipod can be improved by this method, but is not as good as having an entirely rigid fore-end.
